Why Taking Time To Plan Works

By Sarah Grace McDuff | September 19, 2017

We’ve all had marketing or sales plans that are forgotten in the daily grind of things. After a few of these have been introduced to employees and put on the back burner, it’s easy to think that there is no merit to create a plan. But having a succinct plan backed by analysis and insight is the difference between trudging along without any sense of direction and carefully guiding your business down a chosen path. In fact, the data shows that having a marketing and sales plan can make all of the difference between success and failure.

For instance, the 2011 CSO Insights Sales Performance Optimization Study, which asked over 2,000 companies about their sales reps ability to develop and execute account plans, shows that companies whose account planning needed improvement saw only 55% of sales team meeting quota while companies whose sales reps had detailed account planning saw an average of 67% of their sales team meeting quota. That’s 22% more of your sales team making quota!

Here at FitzMartin, we learned early on that taking that extra time to plan for the future was well worth the effort. With 25 years and over 5,000 clients worth of experience, we wanted to put our knowledge to good use, so we’ve developed a comprehensive planning retreat product. Our marketing and sales planning retreats provide the insight and careful thinking needed to create a winning plan for 2018, and we’ve carefully crafted three levels of retreats to fit your business’s unique needs.

  • Product One: onsite for one ½ day planning retreat  /  $3500

You see the value of taking time to focus on your company’s core strengths, to reflect on your 2017 performance, but you still have a good idea of where your business should head in the coming year. Maybe you just don't have time for a two-day retreat, but still want an in-depth planning session.

  • Product Two: onsite for two ½ day planning retreat  /  $8500

You need a plan that can enact major changes for years to come. You might be facing trouble converting leads and need a game plan that will get your business back on track.

  • Product Three: remote consult plus plan / $500

You’re ready to take planning seriously, but not quite ready to jump head first into a full-blown planning retreat. This level is perfect if you don’t have the time or budget to step out of the office for the full retreat.

Overall, the benefits of creating a marketing and sales plan that accurately reflects where you see your company in the future is worth taking the time out of your schedule. We at FitzMartin want to bring our years of expertise to help you craft that plan in a successful way. And frankly, it’s just too much fun to help business leaders in the retreat setting that we just can’t say no!
